The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit at KR Bellad Arts and Commerce College was established on 11th July 1980 with a sanctioned intake of 100 student volunteers. Guided by the noble motto “Not Me But You,” the NSS unit aims to inculcate a sense of social responsibility, community engagement, and national integration among students through selfless service.
Over the years, the unit has actively contributed to community development and environmental awareness, while also nurturing the holistic development of student volunteers. Our NSS volunteers have proudly represented the college in prestigious State-Level and National-Level camps, including Republic Day Parade Camps and National Integration Camps.
The primary objective of the NSS is to prepare youth for community-oriented service and nation-building through practical engagement and experiential learning. The following are the detailed goals of the NSS unit:
Enable students to develop an awareness of their local community, including its challenges, needs, and opportunities for development.
Encourage students to understand themselves in relation to society and recognize their role in social transformation.
Involve volunteers in identifying and solving real-life problems faced by the community using practical, sustainable solutions.
Foster a deep sense of civic responsibility, ethics, and service-mindedness among students.
Provide opportunities for students to apply their academic knowledge and skills to tackle issues in the community.
Promote teamwork, cooperation, and mutual respect through shared responsibilities in group activities.
Train volunteers in mobilizing local community members for development activities and awareness programs.
Cultivate leadership skills, democratic attitudes, and a sense of accountability.
Prepare volunteers to respond to emergencies and natural disasters with efficiency and compassion.
Encourage national unity and social harmony through multicultural service initiatives and cross-state participation.
Bridge the gap between classroom learning and grassroots realities, creating meaningful campus-community partnerships.

Our NSS volunteers have been actively involved in initiatives such as:
Environmental conservation drives
Tree plantation and clean-up campaigns
Blood donation camps
Health and hygiene awareness
Rural literacy programs
Voter awareness and election duty assistance
Disaster relief and emergency response
With the support of local social institutions, our unit continues to work for community upliftment and environmental sustainability through dedicated and impactful service.
Volunteers have proudly represented the college at State and National Levels.

State-level Leadership and Adventure Camps
